Position:  Logistics and supply Manager

Career level: Senior level (VIP) A minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare supply chain management

Duty base:  Project site, Addis Ababa (Mekenisa, Kore Square area right after Consolata Catholic in the way from Mekenisa to Kore)

Employment type: Full time after satisfactory probationary excellent performance

Statement of Purpose: 

The logistics and Supply Manager is responsible for the overall supply chain strategy, organization, operating processes, compliance systems and disciplines to deliver contemporary, best practice sourcing, procurement and overall supply chain services across the Hospital.

Major Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Establishes the strategic vision for the supply chain organization and successfully leads the execution of that vision.

  • Establishes and implements a Supply Chain Strategic Plan and annual Operating Plan aligned with the overall health system business objectives.

  • Establishes the contracting and contract compliance strategy and processes across the organization.

  • Provides leadership for procurement spending, including all material and services spend.

  • Drives supplier quality and the use of appropriate sourcing technology throughout the sourcing processes.

  • Develops and drives a sourcing strategy that supports item consolidation, especially in the area of physician preference items, process standardization, overall cost reduction, and effective systems and information strategy and utilization.

  • Ensures through teaming with hospital business leaders that appropriate supply chain performance metrics are in place to set and measure progress against initiatives and develop necessary corrective action plans.

  • Negotiates and manages contracts with key suppliers where the focus will be on more strategic relationships based upon agreed performance metrics over the long term.

  • Encourages risk sharing between suppliers and the health system, and become thoroughly familiar with their policies and objectives.

  • Attracts, hires, develops, trains and retains the best possible team ensuring that there is an outstanding group of employees who will take care of their customers and, thereby, the ensuring the success of the system. Focus on service excellence techniques is required.

  • Drives operating effectiveness and efficiency through the use of e-commerce and other technologies.

  • Develops and maintains effective measures of performance; maintains key supplier performance measures and recommends/implements actions based upon trends.

  • Ensures that supply chain savings are optimized, by representing the health system on various associated committees.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics management, accounting, finance or related fields. Master’s degree is highly required. 

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare supply chain management.

  • Knowledge of automated materials management functions.
