The Logistics and Operations Officer is responsible for coordinating end-to-end logistics operations across air, sea, and land transport, ensuring efficient movement, storage, and documentation of cargo while maintaining service quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Primary Focus: Lead the review of pre-alert documents and provide greenlight approvals for all shipments, ensuring proper documentation and readiness for smooth customs and transport handling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead review and approval of pre-alert documents to validate shipment readiness before processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.

  2. Advise on and ensure the preparation of all necessary shipping and transport documentation.

  3. Coordinate operations across air, sea, and land transport, facilitating seamless movement from origin to destination.

  4. Plan, schedule, and monitor shipment execution and transportation flows, ensuring on-time delivery and high service levels.

  5. Serve as the key liaison with customs authorities, carriers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transport partners, and warehouse teams, resolving issues and maintaining operational alignment.

  6. Track, trace, and report shipment status, providing timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders.

  7. Ensure full compliance with customs, trade, aviation, maritime, and road transport regulations and internal SOPs.

  8. Monitor operational performance, KPIs, turnaround times, and quality measures, driving continuous improvement.

  9. Support cost optimization, route planning, and operational reporting, contributing to efficient resource utilization and strategic decision-making.

  10. Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation, preserving data integrity for operational, audit, and reporting purposes.

  11. Uphold and promote company SOPs, safety protocols, and service quality standards in all logistics activities.

Job Requirements

Required Skills & Competencies

  1. Strong understanding of air, sea, and land logistics operations

  2. Ability to review, validate, and approve pre-alert documents accurately

  3. Knowledge of freight forwarding, customs clearing, and transport coordination

  4. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  5. High level of data accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving

  6. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

  7. Proficiency in MS Excel, email, and logistics management systems

Experience Requirement

  1. 3–5 years experience in air, sea, or land logistics, freight forwarding

  2. Familiarity with Ethiopian customs, airline, port, and trucking procedures is preferred

  3. Experience in a logistics company is mandatory
