JOB SUMMARY
The Director – Infrastructure, Cloud & Operations is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for designing, governing, and operating all of OVID IT's and OVID Group's technology infrastructure. This encompasses cloud platforms, network operations, server and systems administration, backup & disaster recovery, and enterprise collaboration services. This Director will be OVID IT's infrastructure authority — establishing the cloud-first, security-conscious, and highly resilient infrastructure foundation that enables OVID's enterprise applications, digital products, and client solutions to perform flawlessly. The role requires a seasoned technology leader with hands-on infrastructure depth, strong cloud expertise, and the leadership capability to build and scale an operations team capable of supporting Ethiopia's most demanding enterprise clients. The ideal candidate combines deep technical infrastructure knowledge with strong operational management discipline and a passion for building reliable, scalable, and secure technology environments.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and execute OVID IT's cloud-first infrastructure strategy aligned with business growth, ERP platforms, digital products, and cybersecurity requirements
Lead cloud infrastructure architecture, deployment, and management across Microsoft Azure, and/or AWS/GCP environments
Govern hybrid infrastructure operations including on-premises data center, co-location, and cloud services
Oversee network architecture, WAN/LAN operations, switching, routing, firewall, and wireless infrastructure
Lead enterprise server administration, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and operating systems management
Manage backup architecture, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity testing with defined RTO/RPO objectives
Oversee enterprise collaboration platforms including Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange, and SharePoint
Develop and enforce infrastructure governance policies, security baselines, change management procedures, and SLA frameworks
Lead capacity planning, performance monitoring, and infrastructure optimization
Manage vendor relationships for ISP, cloud, hardware, and network service providers
Oversee infrastructure budget, procurement planning, and total cost of ownership optimization
Provide executive reporting on infrastructure health, availability metrics, capacity, and strategic project delivery
Lead infrastructure support for all ERP, digital product, and enterprise system deployments
Build and develop a skilled infrastructure team capable of delivering 24/7 operational excellence
Job Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in infrastructure, cloud, and IT operations
At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing infrastructure and operations teams
Proven experience managing hybrid cloud environments in enterprise-scale organizations
Demonstrated track record of designing and implementing cloud migration and infrastructure modernization programs
Experience with network operations management, data center management, and DR planning
Experience working in or with Ethiopian or East African enterprises is a significant advantage
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field
Advanced academic qualifications are preferred but exceptional practical experience will be considered
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) – Highly Required
Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) – Strongly Preferred
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional
Cisco CCNP Enterprise or CCNA (routing & switching)
VMware VCP (vSphere) or equivalent virtualization certification
ITIL 4 Foundation or Service Operations certification
Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) – advantageous
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop infrastructure and operations teams across multiple functional units
Strong operational management discipline with a focus on SLA delivery, incident management, and service excellence
Ability to lead teams under pressure during critical incidents and infrastructure outages
Experience in workforce development, technical training, and certification planning for infrastructure teams
Proven ability to establish operational frameworks, runbooks, and escalation procedures
Strategic infrastructure vision combined with hands-on technical credibility
COMMUNICATION & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Amharic proficiency advantageous)
Ability to communicate infrastructure risks, availability metrics, and technical strategies to senior executives
Skilled in preparing infrastructure roadmaps, board presentations, and management dashboards
Effective vendor and partner negotiation and relationship management
Ability to translate infrastructure complexity into business impact and financial terms
