Position Summary

The Marketing Analyst will evaluate market trends, pricing dynamics, competitive landscapes, and customer demand cycles within the industrial steel sector. This role turns raw market intelligence and internal sales metrics into actionable insights to optimize pricing models, product portfolios, commercial strategies, and long-term volume/revenue forecasting.  

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or with related field of study
  • Degree or exposure to Industrial Engineering/Materials Management is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of experience in market analysis, business intelligence, or commercial analytics preferably within manufacturing, heavy industry, construction, or metals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Market Research & Intelligence

  • Track Steel & Scrap Market Dynamics: Monitor global and regional price fluctuations for raw materials (scrap metal, billet) and finished goods (e.g., rebar, wire rod, structural steel, hollow sections).
  • Competitor Benchmarking: Analyze competitor capabilities, product offerings, production output, regional distribution networks, and promotional strategies.
  • Construction & Infrastructure Monitoring: Track macroeconomic factors, regional civil engineering projects, government infrastructure spending, and commercial development indicators to anticipate steel demand.

Commercial & Portfolio Analytics

  • Product Profitability Analysis: Perform portfolio reviews evaluating product line margins (e.g., rebar vs. structural profiles) to support product mix optimization.
  • Customer Segmentation & Lifetime Value: Classify B2B client tiers (contractors, distributors, fabricators, direct project managers) based on volume, payment terms, and purchasing frequency.
  • Pricing Support: Prepare data-backed recommendations for dynamic price adjustments aligned with raw material input costs and market supply-demand pressures.

Forecasting & Sales Enablement

  • Volume & Revenue Forecasting: Build predictive models for monthly, quarterly, and annual sales volume (metric tons) and revenue targets.
  • Sales Alignment: Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to align demand forecasts with plant production capacity and inventory management.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Design and maintain executive dashboards tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), forecast accuracy, and market share trends. 

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling), Power BI or Tableau, SQL, and CRM software.
  • Understanding of industrial B2B sales cycles, metal pricing mechanics, supply chain logistics, and basic manufacturing flow.
