Wasasa Microfinance S.C. has been providing financial services to active poor communities in both rural and urban areas of Ethiopia since 2000. To strengthen its management team and support its strategic growth objectives, the Institution invites qualified, competent, and experienced applicants for the following position:

Job Summary:

The Marketing and Business Development Department Manager is responsible for leading the Institution’s marketing, business development, strategic planning, and partnership development initiatives. The position plays a key role in expanding the Institution’s outreach, enhancing business growth, identifying new market opportunities, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and ensuring effective performance reporting. The incumbent develops and implements strategies, policies, and processes that improve operational efficiency and support the achievement of the Institution’s current and future objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement growth strategies that enhance both financial performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, markets, and customer needs.

  • Promote the Institution’s products and services by addressing current and emerging client requirements.

  • Coordinate feasibility studies for branch expansion and the introduction of new products and services.

  • Identify and secure additional funding sources beyond the traditional donor base, including debt and equity financing.

  • Develop and maintain a database of potential funding partners and strategic stakeholders.

  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial, operational, social, and performance reports prepared for stakeholders.

  • Facilitate the annual business planning process based on performance analysis and strategic priorities.

  • Develop and manage communication and outreach platforms, including publications, websites, and other promotional channels.

  • Coordinate the periodic review and update of the Institution’s strategic plans.

  • Monitor and evaluate the Institution’s social performance against established indicators.

  • Support the General Manager and immediate supervisor in the preparation of funding proposals and partnership initiatives.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • BA/BSc, MA/MSc, or MBA Degree in Marketing Management, Management, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.

Work Experience:

  • 10 years (for bachelor's degree holders) or 8 years (for master's degree holders) of relevant work experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial, supervisory, or senior-level position.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of marketing, business development, strategic planning, and partnership management.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills.

  • High level of integrity, commitment, and result orientation.

Language Requirements:

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Afan Oromo is mandatory.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary and benefits shall be in accordance with the Institution’s salary scale and benefit package.
