The Role
The Materials Engineer Coordinator is responsible for ensuring proper specification, quality control, standardization, and technical evaluation of materials, spare parts, and equipment used in mining operations. The role supports procurement, warehouse, and maintenance functions by ensuring materials meet operational and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Review and verify technical specifications of materials, spare parts, and equipment before procurement.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure proper material selection and availability.
• Conduct technical evaluations of suppliers’ materials and ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Assist in material standardization and cataloging processes within the ERP system.
• Monitor material quality and support inspection activities for received goods and equipment.
• Provide technical support on material compatibility, performance, and lifecycle management.
• Support inventory optimization by identifying interchangeable and critical spare parts.
• Prepare technical reports, material analysis, and recommendations for management.
• Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to materials management and reliability.
• Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI): Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.

Experience:

• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in materials engineering, maintenance planning, or supply chain support within mining, construction, or heavy industry.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of mining equipment spare parts and material specifications.
• Experience with ERP systems and material cataloging processes.
• Strong analytical, technical evaluation, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Other Requirements:

• Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with mining operations and maintenance practices is preferred.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and remote site environment.
• Willingness to travel to remote mining locations when required.
