Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM), a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp., a publicly listed company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), is engaged in gold mining operations across multiple countries, including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM operates with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and holds three contiguous Exploration Licenses for its project in Ethiopia.

The project is strategically located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, within the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently actively involved in both mine development and exploration activities at the site. 

Purpose of the job

KGM is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanic to provide a specialized engineering technical service to the Dewatering Foreman by maintaining and repairing machinery and pumps for supporting dewatering operations on the mine.

Key Responsibilities:

Without being exhaustive, the responsibilities include:

  • Performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on mining and dewatering equipment.

  • Responding to breakdowns and malfunctions.

  • Ensuring minimal downtime and quick turnaround times.

  • Following safety regulations and company policies.

  • Conducting preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and pumping systems.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Grade 12th

  • N2 Engineering studies certificate

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate 

  • Valid international drivers licence

  • Willing to work shifts and do standby duties

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on a mine in mechanical maintenance, with working on a remote site being and advantage

  • Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair faults, and knowledge of various tools and equipment

  • Strong problem solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues

  • Strong communicator with excellent proficiency in English being an advantage as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels

  • Organized with an ability to plan and prioritize own workload and able to organize others
