Purpose Of Job

The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests that assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Also perform setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory equipment, as well as conducting and interpreting various chemical analyses on blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other body substances. This role requires a thorough understanding of laboratory techniques and equipment, as well as strict adherence to safety protocols and regulation

Reporting to:  Director, Alliance Medical Solutions (AMS) Division 

Starting Date:  Immediately after contract agreement concluded

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect biological samples (blood, urine, tissue) from patients.

  • Properly label and prepare samples for analysis.

  • Perform a wide array of laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, immunology, and clinical chemistry

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment that they are calibrated and functioning correctly and also ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results.

  • Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Validate results and troubleshoot any potential laboratory errors that arises during testing

  • Accurately document test results, maintain lab records, and prepare reports for physicians.

  • Communicate findings and provide guidance on the interpretation of lab results.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space.

  • Ensure that all equipment is regularly calibrated and functioning properly.

  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Educate patients on laboratory procedures when necessary.

  • Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a secure laboratory environment for themselves and others.

  • Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology and procedures by participating in an ongoing education and certification programs.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • MSc/BSC degree in Medical Laboratory, pharmaceutical, or a related field.

  • A minimum of three years of hand on experience in a similar position

  • Methodical approach to tasks with good dexterity

  • Certification from a recognized professional organization is an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.

  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and technology.

  • Ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment
