MHPSS Case worker—Work within a case management model using a biopsychosocial, multidisciplinary, and community-based approach. Being frontline workers, they provide mental health case management sessions and services to IDPs/displaced populations in the given location and vulnerable host communities, whereby the mentioned population’s needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner, using a variety of non-pharmacological MHPSS and community-based approaches.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote and introduce the International Medical Corps (IMC) mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services to institutions, centers, PHCCs, and individuals.

  • Complete an overall assessment for all their beneficiaries by filling out the Biopsychosocial assessment (data collection) and the other IMC MHPSS case management set of tools.

  • Oversee and ensure accordance with IMC mental health case management model in mental health case management services (assessment, care planning, referral, follow-up, and discharge).

  • Build and maintain a solid professional relationship with the clients, their environment and support networks, and their surroundings, including parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, etc., with the client's consent. 

  • Provide psychological and social support for IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable host population MHPSS beneficiaries at the primary health care centers and field-level community settings. 

  • Comprehend, fully understand, and commit to the IMC mental health case management model. 

  • Work closely with the members of the MHPSS case management team (psychotherapist/psychiatrist) to develop and follow up on the intervention plans. 

  • The caseworker/case manager will be an essential source of providing accurate referrals and ensuring adequate follow-up of all cases referred. 

  •  Provide evidence-based, low-scalable psychological intervention like GPM+, IPT-G, EASE, SH+ 

  • Conduct outreach activities and home visits when needed and document them. 

  • Prepare and conduct mental health awareness sessions using the relevant forms and background documentation developed and approved by the IMC MHPSS department. 

  • Prepare and conduct psychoeducation sessions using the relevant forms and MH booklets developed and approved by the IMC MHPSS department. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including records and client’s files, maintaining confidentiality and consent. 

  • Attend any training relevant to assigned tasks 

  • Prepare, facilitate, take part in, and document case management technical meetings and case conferences. 

  • MHPSS case workers will work in close coordination with the MHPSS program managers on issues related to the field in terms of identification of challenges encountered, gaps, provide all necessary information to ensure better implementation of activities 

  • Attend regular meetings with MHPSS managers on a weekly or biweekly basis and other partners as required by the direct supervisor. 

  •  Report any emerging issue firsthand to the direct supervisor 

  •  Submit monthly qualitative and quantitative reports as agreed by the MHPSS program manager

Job Requirements

  • Education: BSc degree or above in psychology, or in a related field of study, preferably clinical/counselling psychology 

  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in clinical and program implementation on MHPSS. Of which 1-year clinical experience with NGO 

  • Experience in facilitating group/individual psychological and psychosocial activities like GPM+, IPT-G, EASE, and SH+
