The Microbiologist ensures quality standards across all stages of production by inspecting incoming materials, in-process activities, and finished products. This role undertakes quality control tests to verify that ingredients, products, and packing materials meet established standards and regulatory requirements. The Microbiologist also supports the implementation and continual improvement of the Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental Management Systems.
Conduct quality control tests on raw materials, intermediate products, finished products, and packing materials to ensure compliance with required standards.
Ensure laboratory facilities and materials for quality control activities are available and maintained in a timely manner.
Carry out laboratory analyses according to set schedules for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
Monitor product quality to ensure it meets required standards.
Oversee sanitation of machinery, production facilities, and accessories.
Ensure timely calibration of laboratory equipment and devices.
Implement and monitor the Company’s Quality and Food Safety Management System, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Identify, report, and take corrective actions for process and quality non-conformities.
Ensure proper stacking and storage of materials according to required standards.
Participate in training and skill development programs for production and laboratory staff.
Support management during regulatory, certification, and system-related audits.
Prepare and submit periodic performance and quality reports.
Implement, document, maintain, and continually improve the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).
Continually validate, verify, review, improve, and update the Food Safety Management System to ensure ongoing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES: -
Knowledge of quality control, laboratory testing, and regulatory standards.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 22000 or HACCP systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
QUALIFICATIONS: -
Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
Experience: -
+1 year of relevant work experience in a laboratory, quality control, or food production environment
