Duties and Responsibilities

• Stay updated with customs laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance with import and export requirements.

• Classify products according to customs tariff codes and ensure accurate declaration of goods.

• Review and validate customs documentation, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs clearance forms, for accuracy and completeness.

• Handle complex customs cases, including special permits, exemptions, or trade agreements.

• Execute and supervise the customs clearance process for import and export shipments.

• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely processing of customs clearance.

• Maintain proper documentation and records of customs clearance activities.

• Prepare and submit reports on customs clearance activities, including duty and tax payments, customs delays, or issues.

• Monitor compliance with customs regulations and identify potential risks or areas of improvement.

• Collaborate with team members to address complex customs cases or challenges.

• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Liaise with customs officials to address clearance-related issues, resolve disputes, and facilitate smooth customs operations.

• Monitor reports, analyse quotes, and administer billing documents according to company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, international trade, or a related field.

• 2-3 years’ experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or a similar role in the freight forwarding industry.

• Strong knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
