Position Title: Packer Machine Operator
Job Purpose
To operate, monitor, and control the packer machine safely and efficiently to ensure the proper packing of finished beverage products according to production plans, quality standards, and packaging specifications. The position is responsible for machine setup, adjustment, basic troubleshooting, routine inspection, cleaning, and maintaining smooth and efficient packaging operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the packer machine in accordance with approved operating procedures and production schedules.
Set up, adjust, and operate the packing equipment according to product type, packaging format, and production requirements.
Ensure proper feeding, grouping, packing, and discharge of finished beverage products.
Monitor the quality and integrity of packed products, packaging materials, cartons, trays, shrink film, and other packing materials as applicable.
Ensure proper arrangement, alignment, counting, and packing of bottles/cans according to the specified packaging configuration.
Conduct routine inspections of the packer machine and identify abnormal operating conditions, mechanical problems, product jams, and other malfunctions.
Perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.
Monitor machine operating parameters and ensure that the machine operates within established specifications.
Ensure proper synchronization of the packer machine with conveyors, filler, labeller, shrink-wrapper, palletizer, and other associated packaging equipment as applicable.
Check the availability and proper supply of packaging materials required for continuous operation.
Identify and remove damaged, improperly packed, misaligned, or non-conforming products from the production line.
Maintain accurate records of production output, machine stoppages, downtime, rejects, wastage, and packaging material consumption.
Report machine breakdowns, quality deviations, material shortages, safety hazards, and abnormal operating conditions promptly to the supervisor or maintenance team.
Work closely with maintenance personnel during preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, machine inspection, and breakdown recovery.
Carry out routine cleaning, sanitation, lubrication, and operator-level maintenance activities in accordance with approved procedures.
Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards around the machine and packaging area.
Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, occupational health and safety, environmental, and company requirements.
Monitor and minimize product damage, packaging material wastage, and production losses.
Follow approved procedures for machine start-up, operation, changeover, shutdown, and emergency stopping.
Ensure that machine guards, interlocks, emergency stops, and other safety devices are properly installed and functional.
Immediately stop the machine and report unsafe conditions that may cause injury, equipment damage, product contamination, or significant product loss.
Participate in machine changeovers and adjustments according to the production plan.
Monitor packaging quality to ensure that finished products meet established company standards and customer requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing downtime, waste, defects, and packaging costs.
Follow all work instructions, standard operating procedures, GMP, HACCP/food safety, and other applicable management-system requirements.
Perform other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Job Requirements
Education:
Level IV TVET Diploma in General Mechanics, Electricity, Mechatronics, Production Technology, or a related field of study.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the beverage manufacturing industry or a similar FMCG/food-processing environment.
Required Skills and Competencies
Good knowledge of packing machine operation, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to identify and resolve common packing machine operating problems.
Understanding of beverage production and packaging processes.
Knowledge of packaging materials and packaging quality requirements.
Knowledge of GMP, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
Ability to monitor machine operating parameters and packaging quality.
