About the job
The printing machine operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machines to produce high-quality products according to customer specifications
Machine Setup and Operation
Set up machines based on job specifications, including loading materials, adjusting machine operational settings and installing necessary components.
Review Job orders to understand all the product requirements.
Install and configure specific tools needed for unique tasks.
Operate the machines according to company standards and production schedules.
Ensure machines run at optimal speed and maintain high-quality output.
Clean machines and replace worn-out components after completing a job to prepare for the next setup.
Quality control
Continuously observe the process to detect any defects or inconsistencies and perform regular checks on samples from the production line to ensure they meet the specifications.
Measure and verify measurable specifications using appropriate tools.
Make real-time adjustments to machine settings to correct defects or optimize quality.
Follow company quality assurance protocols and industry standards.
Work closely with the quality control team, supervisors, and other operators to address issues and implement solutions.
Material handling
Safely loading materials into the machines.
Adjusting the necessary machine components to ensure proper handling of materials.
Monitoring material movement through the machine to prevent jams, misalignment, or defects.
Segregating and reporting defective materials for proper disposal or reprocessing.
Organizing and storing raw materials and finished products properly to prevent damage or contamination.
Keeping accurate records of material usage and reporting shortages or discrepancies.

Coordinating with warehouse, logistics, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify wear, tear, misaligned components, material jams or any potential issues.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and parts replacement, as per the manufacturer's schedule.
Report any shortages of parts to the appropriate personnel for timely replenishment.
Monitor machines during operation to detect unusual sounds, vibrations, or errors.
Conduct tests to ensure machines are fully operational after repairs or troubleshooting.
Verify that output meets quality standards before resuming full production.
Regularly communicate with supervisors, maintenance teams, and colleagues about machine status, issues, and required actions.
Documentation and Reporting
Recording machine startup and stoppage times, any downtime or delays and their reasons and production output, including quantity and quality of finished products.
Maintaining reports for rejected or reworked items.
Logging and reporting safety checks performed on the machinery before and during shifts and any safety incidents, hazards, or near misses.
Highlighting trends in quality issues or machine performance for analysis.
Ensuring records meet industry regulations and company policies.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure the work area is free of hazards like spills, loose materials, or obstructions.
Inspect machines before starting operations to ensure they are in proper working condition.
Identify and report faulty equipment or potential hazards to supervisors or the maintenance team.
Efficiency and Productivity
Conduct thorough checks before starting production to prevent downtime.
Efficiently manage and reduce downtime by swiftly addressing malfunctions.
Minimize material waste by monitoring inputs and making proper adjustments.
Operate machines at optimal speed without compromising quality.
Assist in training new operators on machine operations and efficiency practices.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
TVET diploma in Industrial courses.
Experience
Four years’ work experience in a printing or packaging company
