Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the Refinery process Engineer is responsible to ensure the Refinery is always available for production and then produces at the rated speed with the resolution of production problems and quality with minimal waste through optimum maintenance execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operational

• Constantly reviewing Refinery process performance against target, and completing all daily process performance report. 

• Resolving out of control situations.

• Responding rapidly to upstream or downstream triggers that result in stoppages.

• Constantly reviewing and reporting material consumption tracking. Yield and oil loss.

• Analysis plant failure mode and investigate causes for repeat failures to identify and correct root causes.

• Appling the appropriate situational problem-solving techniques (e. g  5Why, quick fix routines, OPL (One Point Lesson) etc to identify and correct the problem.

• Follow out autonomous maintenance activities according to the work instructions and following the maintenance schedule. 

• Ensure that SOPs are followed

• Evaluate the existing system and modify it as appropriate to improve performance.

• Conducting trends analysis on quality data to identify problems and opportunities timeously.

• Actively participating in shift meetings, asking questions and contributing suggestions.

• Making use of the gap list to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.

• Making use of relevant communication media (e. g shift handover books) to stay informed and to inform others of issues.

• Optimizes processes through supporting and implementing continuous improvement, opportunities, optimizing process capability and utility usage.

•  Where unsafe work practices have been identified, the process engineer is responsible for correcting the issue.

• Supervises and evaluates the performances of workers under the shift

• Safely operate, control and improve the refinery process and equipment to achieve the desired level of performance.

           1.7 Food safety management System

• Periodically review all Food safety Procedures and interaction to Ensure they remain current.

• Company's prerequisite program and ensure that PRPs are implemented, Monitored and communicated to the appropriate parties and Periodically review PRPs.

• Implement, document, maintain and continually improv the food safety Management System (ISO 220001:2015) 

• 1.8 Environmental Management system

• Ensure compliance with the relevant requirements of local, national and international laws related to environmental standards and end client’s environmental requirements.

• Recognize and aim for continuous improvement on protection and preservation of the environment with a focus on reducing resource consumption, recycling, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, no net deforestations) as well as innovation to reduce environmental impact.

• Ensure reduction targets (environmental objectives) are in place for environmental aspects e.g. water consumption and discharge, waste, energy and greenhouse gas emissions.

• Determine environmental aspects and impacts and devise method to prevent or reduce these environmental impacts.

• Retain list of chemicals used and control them as per their material safety data sheet, legal and client requirements. Also properly handle and manage hazardous materials and wastes.

• Use R rules (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, etc.) to avoid or minimize discharges to water, emissions to air and disposal to land.

• Ensure sustainably use the natural resources such as water, raw materials, energy and other resources. And also, accurately measure and monitor consumption (usage and waste performances) of key utilities and natural resources that follows recognized protocols or standards.

• Implement, document, maintain and continually improve the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).
