• Integration Architecture & Development: Design and develop APIs and middleware to connect Ethiopost’s DFS platform with financial institutions, payment switches, and third-party systems. Ensure seamless connectivity, data consistency, and high throughput.

• Product Co‑creation: Work closely with Product Portfolio Leads and the Technology Manager to translate business requirements into technical specifications. Develop new modules enabling new products and ensure they meet regulatory and inclusion requirements.

• System Scalability & Resilience: Optimise microservices and database performance to handle large transaction volumes (targets: millions of transactions and hundreds of millions of birr revenue). Implement caching, failover, and load-balancing strategies to meet uptime SLAs.

• Security & Compliance: Incorporate secure coding practices; conduct code reviews and vulnerability testing; enforce data-privacy and AML/CFT requirements in all integrations. Support the Digital Security & Data Analyst in incident response.

• Testing & Deployment: Develop unit, integration, and acceptance tests; automate CI/CD pipelines; manage release cycles; coordinate with operations and product teams to ensure smooth rollouts.

• Technical Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce API documentation, integration guidelines, and technical runbooks; mentor junior developers; contribute to the technology roadmap.

• Vendor & Partner Liaison: Collaborate with technical teams from banks, MNOs, and fintech partners; participate in system-integration testing; ensure partner technical requirements are met and SLAs are adhered to.  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.

• 3+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in API design and systems integration.

• Strong proficiency in modern development stacks (e.g., Java/Spring, .NET, Node.js, Python) and API standards (RESTful, SOAP, GraphQL).

• Experience with message queues, microservices, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Knowledge of banking protocols (ISO 8583, ISO 20022), payment gateways, and security standards (OAuth2.0, TLS, PKI).
