Mothers and Children Multisectoral Development Organization (MCMDO) is a national Non-Governmental Organization registered in accordance with the proclamation for Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No 1113/2019 with a certificate No 0022. MCMDO is currently implementing emergency response and development projects in all regions and City Administrations in Ethiopia.
To meet its objectives MCMDO calls for competent professionals to apply for the following vacant position.

Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator is a full time technical and operational lead for MCMDO’s “Reinforcing Protection and GBV response service for people affected by Displacement and Drought in Afar Zone, Yalo Woreda Project”. The Project Coordinator provides comprehensive oversight of all lifesaving interventions across targeted kebeles, ensuring services reach 12,095 beneficiaries safely and efficiently, stationed at the field level.
Core Duties:
Project Management & Technical Oversight
Ensure all four project pillars (Case Management, MHPSS, Cash for Protection, and Dignity Kits) are delivered according to the approved 12-month timeline.
Provide hands-on guidance to the team to ensure GBV and Child Protection services meet national and international survivor-centered standards.
Institutionalize PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) across all kebele-level activities
Ensure all protection activities adhere to “Do No Harm” principles and international survivor-centered standards.
Conduct regular site visits to the Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS) and IDP collective sites to monitor service quality
Coordination & Partnership
Actively participate in the Zonal/Woreda Protection Cluster and GBV sub-cluster meetings in Afar.
Maintain close working relationships with the Yalo Woreda Office of Women and Social Affairs and the Health Office.
Coordinate with traditional leaders to ensure community buy-in and safe access for mobile teams.
Financial & Operational Compliance
Oversee field-level expenditures to ensure alignment and CBPF financial guidelines.
Supervise the procurement, storage, and dignified distribution of kits and MHPSS supplies.
Ensure transparent and secure delivery of “Cash for Protection” to targeted households.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Review case management logs and MHPSS records for accuracy and confidentiality.
Draft high-quality monthly progress reports and contribute to mid-term and final donor submissions.
Facilitate Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and document success stories to demonstrate project impact.
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor the Protection Officer, MHPSS Team, and Finance/Logistics staff.
Identify staff training needs and lead on-the-job coaching for caseworkers and volunteers.
About You
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Sociology, Psychology, Project Management, International Development, or a related field.
Master’s degree in a relevant field or professional certification in Humanitarian Coordination
Professional Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in humanitarian project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership/coordination role.
Proven track record in managing Protection, GBV, or Child Protection programs in emergency contexts.
Demonstrated experience managing CBPF (Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund) or similar UN-funded projects, including familiarity with GMS/Partner Portal reporting.
Previous experience working in the Afar Region or other pastoralist, conflict/drought-affected areas in Ethiopia is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Deep understanding of the Cluster System, Minimum Standards for Child Protection, and GBV Case Management principles.
Strong financial literacy with experience managing budgets
Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools, including Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and case management databases.
Language & Communication
English & Amharic: Professional fluency (written and spoken) is mandatory for donor reporting and government liaison.
Afar’af: Proficiency in the local language is a significant advantage for effective community engagement in Yalo.
Soft Skills & Physical Requirements
Ability and willingness to live and work full-time in a remote, high-temperature, and high-stress environment with basic infrastructure.
Absolute commitment to PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and the MCMDO Code of Conduct.
Strong ability to influence and collaborate with traditional community leaders and local government officials.
