Core Purpose

Acts as Project Coordinator for Eye Health Cluster Project

Position Summary:

The job holder is responsible for working as Eye Health Cluster Project Coordinator. The Eye Health Cluster Project, started in 2019, combines CBM-supported Eye Care partners in various Regions of Ethiopia, in the effort of enhancing coordination, information-sharing, effectiveness and efficiency of procurement processes, increase in the advocacy linked to Eye Health at National Level. The Cluster Project Coordinator will have an essential role in enhancing the success of all CBM supported projects, through its partners, in close coordination with the Federal Ministry of Health. The incumbent will take responsibility for planning, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and reporting related to the Eye Health Cluster Project: The job holder will report to the Line Manager, namely the Head of the Ophthalmology Department of the Cluster Project Lead Partner/ALERT. CBM Ethiopia Country Office will assign a focal person, from its program Team, to liaise with the Eye Health Cluster Project Lead partner and with the Cluster Project Coordinator, holding regular meetings and receiving regular reports. The Eye Health Cluster Project Coordinator will ensure compliance with donor's rules, regulations and requirements. The Eye Health Cluster Project Coordinator will ensure necessary linkages with national level advocacy, alliance-building and networking in eye health sector. The purpose of this position is to provide essential coordination of the national Eye Health Cluster Project funded by Christoffel-Blindenmission (CBM), in terms of program implementation, administration and reporting.

Main Activities

  • Ensure effective coordination of the Eye Health Cluster Project and other CBM‑supported initiatives, under the supervision of the Line Manager and in close collaboration with the CBM Ethiopia Country Office

  • Establish and maintain regular communication with all Cluster Partner focal persons, sharing information, collecting reports, and disability disaggregated data and addressing implementation issues, and provide the needed support 

  • Conduct onsite visits to Cluster Partners, with Terms of Reference approved by the Line Manager, and prepare comprehensive reports highlighting progress, challenges, and actions needed

  • Organize regular coordination meetings with the Line Manager and CBM Ethiopia Country Office, providing updates on implementation progress, challenges

  • Identify and report gaps and risks including those affecting persons with disabilities to the Eye Health Cluster Project Lead Partner and CBM Ethiopia Country Office.

  • Coordinate core project activities (trainings, capacity building, procurement, engagement of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities’/OPD’s, etc.)

  • Participate in the design and planning of new project ideas

Project Implementation

  • Strengthen collaboration between the Cluster Lead Partner, Cluster Partners, and CBM Ethiopia Country Office by facilitating communication and coordination that promotes disability‑inclusive program implementation.

  • Provide timely and high‑quality narrative, statistics, Cataract outcome monitoring reports, and collect disability related data using Washington Group (WG) Short Set of questions to the Line Manager and CBM Ethiopia Country Office

  • Maintain scheduled communication (verbal and written) with Cluster Partners on project implementation status, ensuring that partners receive guidance. Document significant communication for accountability and learning.

  • Collect, document and share success stores, pictures, videos focusing on specific projects, in compliance with CBM’s safeguarding policy

  • Ensure that all focal persons at Cluster Eye Care Partners are oriented and trained on project objectives, reporting expectations, CBM’s disability inclusion standards, and the importance of delivering services that are accessible to persons with disabilities.

  • Ensure that all data, reports, and project outputs are gender‑responsive and disability‑inclusive, including the use of disability‑disaggregated data.

  • Organize and deliver trainings to build sub‑partners’ capacity in inclusive eye health, including disability inclusive service delivery and accessible communication 

  • Promote and facilitate the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in project planning, implementation, monitoring

Contract Duration:
Initial contract is for 02 (two years), with the possibility of extension based on performance and project funding.

Job Requirements

Pre-requests

  • Master's degree in social sciences,

  • Sound financial and administrative management skills in the non-governmental organization (NGO) context

  • Various government/funders/donors’ knowledge and/or experience

  • Knowledge of Disability Inclusion Development

  • Experience leading/managing teams

  • Experience in managing projects with a Result management approach

  • Experience in project management and coordination
