The Role of the Coordinator
Addis Ababa University Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa) wants to recruit a Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the AVATAR therapy project that CDT-Africa is implementing in collaboration with the King’s Kollege London in UK (KCL), All India Institute of Medical Sciences in India (AIIMS), and other partners, with a particular focus on co-ordinating qualitative study on adaptation of AVATAR therapy for people who hear voices.
Principal responsibilities
Work closely with AVATAR investigators to manage and oversee study activities.
Conduct regular field visits to ensure smooth project implementation.
Work closely with project leads to ensure implementation of all standardised operating procedures for high-quality data collection and management.
Ensure all study staff understand and follow ethical research procedures.
Supervise and manage data collection processes.
Engage and coordinate with local AVATAR stakeholders to support study implementation.
Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions and workshops.
Lead documentation of adaptation processes as required.
Coordinate and conduct qualitative research and data collection activities.
Play a leading role in research dissemination activities.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the AVATAR Project PI and study investigators.

Terms and conditions
Hours of work: As per Ethiopian Labor Laws; however, the role may require occasional overtime or weekend work.
Holidays: In accordance with Addis Ababa University regulations for project staff.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience and expertise.
Start date: As soon as possible.
Job Requirements
Requirements
Master’s degree (MSc or MA) in a health-related or social science discipline, completed with a thesis.
At least 5 years of experience as a research assistant, coordinator, or above, including 2 years on university-led projects, preferably at Addis Ababa University or similar institutions, with good understanding of academic and research functions
Proven experience conducting pilot and feasibility studies and related research activities
Experience working with international research collaborators
Experience in qualitative data collection, including interviews and FGDs, and familiarity in quantitative research methods.
Willingness to travel to study sites as needed.
