Job Purpose:
To implement the project’s economic empowerment and local systems-strengthening activities at the field level. This role focuses on practical support to vulnerable families through savings groups, supports community-led accountability, and helps coordinate local stakeholders to improve prevention and response services.
Job Competencies:
Practical experience in community-based savings and lending methodologies.
Ability to train and mentor adults in financial literacy and basic business skills.
Strong networking and coordination skills, with the ability to engage effectively with local government and community structures.
Basic knowledge of monitoring and reporting for economic and governance activities.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support community-led initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
Fluency in English and Afaan Oromoo (written and spoken) is required.
Job Requirements
Education : Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Economics, Business, Rural Development, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of practical experience in livelihoods programming (e.g., VSLA/IGA) or community governance and strong familiarity with the local context of the project implementation area.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Establish, train, and mentor Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups, providing ongoing support on group management and income-generating activities.
Facilitate sensitization workshops for local authorities, religious leaders, and service providers on Harmful Practices and their roles in prevention.
Support the mapping and revitalization of community-based social accountability mechanisms and feedback systems.
Assist in organizing coordination meetings between health facilities, police, women’s affairs offices, and community representatives.
Support the distribution of livelihoods inputs or vocational skills training as per the project plan.
Monitor the progress of VSLA groups and the functionality of local coordination platforms.
Collect field data related to livelihoods and systems-strengthening activities.
