JOB SUMMARY
The Project Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the field office to ensure effective support for the integrated protection and SRH activities in Dessie, Kombolcha, Mersa, Worebabu and Haik woredas of the Amhara region. This includes managing logistics, human resources, finance, and administration functions to facilitate smooth and compliant program delivery in line with national guidelines, donor standards, and Medical Teams policies. The role requires strong operational leadership and a solid understanding of program implementation, particularly in protection and health. It also involves close coordination with government stakeholders, UN agencies, and internal departments to ensure alignment, efficiency, and accountability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Responsibilities
Closely coordinate with government sectors, including Woreda health office, health center, OSC, women and children’s affairs, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient program implementation.
Participate in the planning, implementation, and supervision of the protection and SRH program implementation as per the national guidelines.
Closely work with the protection team to ensure technical support and alignment with broader program objectives.
Compile weekly, monthly and bi-annual reports and share with the field office
Ensure reporting on partner connection is completed on time, and reports are submitted to the Gonder field office
Ensure timely program monitoring and participate in regular supervision and assessments.
Ensure adherence to donor guidelines and reporting standards
Ensure effective inventory management and warehouse operations
Ensure timely program implementation, including efficient budget utilization.
Representing the organization at local coordination forums and with local authorities as needed
Operations Responsibilities
Coordinate with field office logistics, HR, and finance teams to ensure smooth functioning of all support services.
Manage and monitor use of program resources, supplies and equipment ensure efficient utilization
Provide directions to the operational team and foster a collaborative and result-driven work environment.
Ensure stakeholders' management and engagement, reporting, communication with donor focal person at the field level, government authorities & partner NGOs, partnership development, coordination with various stakeholders, forums and clusters.
Monitor adherence to organizational and donor policies across all field operations
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operational activities and performance indicators.
Collaborate with the Finance Department to ensure budgets are appropriately managed and that all activities comply with financial donor guidelines.
Liaise with the HR Department to advise and ensure adherence to Medical Teams policies, ensuring the proper management of field staff and compliance with HR policies.
Work with Programs and Technical staff to oversee the implementation of Medical Teams programs at field project sites, ensuring that activities are carried out to a high standard of quality. This includes regularly visiting and monitoring project implementation sites.
Oversee local logistics and supply chain support by maintaining inventory tracking and coordinating with the Logistics Department to ensure the timely availability of essential resources—including registers, medical forms, small machines, and other operational supplies for smooth operations.
Work with FO access and safety department to oversee field office safety and security, including training staff, monitoring the security situation, and enforcing safety protocols.
Ensure constant communication between the field teams, field office, and country office.
Other Duties:
Ensure accountability is integrated into country strategies, recruitment, staff onboarding, training and performance management, partnership agreements, and highlighted in reporting.
Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding

Frequent use of personal computers, databases and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printer.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender, Business Administration or related experience in a field relevant to humanitarian operations.
EXPERIENCE
Essential Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in managing integrated GBV and SRH program implementations, and support staff in a humanitarian context.
4 years of continuous operations and systems management experience.
Experience in Project management, stakeholders' management and engagement, reporting, communication with donor focal persons at the field level, government authorities & partner NGOs, partnership development, coordination with various stakeholders, forums and clusters.
Experience working with INGOs at remote areas
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of GBV case management and SRH activities
Knowledge of managing One-stop- centers, WGFS, and Maternity Waiting Homes
Donor and MTI Compliance – familiar with donor standards, MTI Policies, and reporting requirements.
Field Operations Management – knows logistics, HR, finance, and supply chain processes.
Stakeholder Landscape: Understands roles the role local government in programming of GBV activities.
Skills
Program Planning and Coordination: Able to coordinate multisectoral activities for timely implementation.
Reporting and Documentation: Skilled in compiling accurate and timely reports for internal and external use.
