Job Summary
ATTA Trading Plc, a member of ATTA Group, is a leading construction company engaged in high-rise building construction and ICT infrastructure projects. The company has successfully delivered major Civil, MEP, ICT, and finishing works across Ethiopia.
We are currently seeking a competent and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to manage all aspects of cost planning, cost control, and contract administration for high-rise construction projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring financial efficiency, contract compliance, and value optimization throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or with related field of study
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of general experience in construction.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in high-rise building projects.
Experience working with FIDIC or similar contract frameworks is an advantage.
Experience in large-scale or high-rise building projects.
Workplace: Project Sites (Addis Ababa and other locations as required)

Duties and Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for various phases of high-rise construction projects.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis during project planning stages.
Review drawings and specifications to ensure accurate quantity take-offs.
Cost Control & Monitoring:
Monitor project expenditures and track costs against approved budgets.
Identify, analyze, and report cost variations and financial risks to the Project Manager.
Implement cost control measures to ensure project stays within budget.
Contract Administration:
Administer construction contracts in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
Manage variations, claims, and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and valuation.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.
Payment Certification:
Evaluate and certify monthly progress payments for subcontractors and suppliers based on site verification.
Review invoices and ensure accuracy before approval.
Measurement & Valuation:
Perform site measurements, quantity take-offs, and material reconciliation.
Track actual material usage against planned quantities to minimize wastage.
Procurement & Cost Analysis:
Analyze market trends and material price fluctuations.
Recommend cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality and standards.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare monthly financial reports, cost reports, and cash flow forecasts.
Develop and submit final accounts and project cost summaries upon completion.
Coordination:
Liaise with engineering, design, procurement, and project teams to ensure all scope changes are properly recorded and costed.
Participate in project meetings and provide financial insights for decision-making.
Skills and Competencies
Familiarity with Ethiopian construction standards and contract practices.
Strong reporting and documentation skills.
Strong knowledge of construction cost management and quantity surveying principles.
Proficiency in preparing and interpreting BOQs, cost estimates, and contracts.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and claim management.
Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, quantity take-off tools).
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
