The job description of a Roller Operator involves operating heavy machinery called rollers to compact and smooth surfaces such as earth, subgrade, asphalt, and other materials in construction projects like highways, streets, and runways. Key duties and responsibilities include:

Quantity Required: 3

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operating different types of rollers such as breakdown rollers, rubber-tired rollers, finish rollers, steel-wheeled, vibrator, or segmented rollers to compact soil, asphalt, and other surfaces to required compaction and smoothness levels.

  • Driving the roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to achieve the desired density and finish.

  • Adjusting speed, direction, frequency, and amplitude based on material compressibility, temperature, and type to avoid ridges or roller marks.

  • Monitoring and controlling water systems on the roller to optimize compaction and prevent material pickup.

  • Performing pre-operation inspections and daily maintenance like fluid checks and cleaning to ensure safety and equipment reliability.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of 10th Grade with relevant work experience

  • Experience: 4 years
