The incumbent is responsible for the successful implementation of the RuSACCO rural program by supporting the prosmotion, accounting and reporting works of the RuSACCO unions where s/he is assigned and its member & non member RuSACCOs. The rural Saving and Credit Cooperative Officer will assist in strengthening the effective use of accounting and reporting system of loan & saving transactions and RuSACCOs to enable them manage operations, handling standard record keeping of the day to day transactions and producing financial reports in collaboration with the management team of the RuSACCO Unions.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Strengthen the existing RuSACCOs and their unions in terms of technical, institutional, financial and structural capacity
Engage in community mobilization for making member of the existing RuSACCOs and non-members to be members.
Support RuSACCOs for credit availability, linking them with unions and with relevant banks
Enhance RuSACCOs operational capacity for smooth and rapid delivery of ICS for members and non-member households
Enhance/strength working relationship between RuSACCOs unions, stove producers and local government cooperative offices.
Support primary RuSACCOs for making members of the respective unions to access credit facilities
Support the management staff and committee members of the Unions and member RuSACCOs in establishing a standards to support GIF program
Create awareness for RuSACCO committees and members on the importance of ICS utilization from environmental, social and economic perspectives,
Ensure/ support the RuSACCO Union and member RuSACCOs are inline with working standards and agreed procedures
Monitors RuSACCOs financial capacity in terms of saving, credit and other accounting and banking activities
MSc or BSc. Degree, cooperative accounting, or cooperative auditing or related fields of study
3/5 years of relevant working experience, preferably within NGO environment
Experience of working in Saving and Credit Cooperatives would be a distinct advantage
Good inter-personal and communication skills
Experience in report writing, data collection and analysis
Computer literacy, particularly in financial packages and ability to adapt and learn new Programmes
Demonstrable good command of English both written and spoken
Desirables:
Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder working environments
Demonstrated knowledge in coordination of project implementation preferably rural finance related projects
Terms of Employment: One-year contract but based on the performance it will be extended for the next four years.
Job Location:- Based in Arba Minch with frequent travel to project sites
