Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly proactive and authoritative SHE Manager to oversee safety standards across our Head Office and Field Sales operations. Given our industry’s specific risk profile, the core focus of this role is the aggressive mitigation of road safety hazards—specifically night driving, driving under the influence (DUI), and vehicle safety compliance—alongside the maintenance of rigorous facility safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Road Safety & Fleet Risk Management (Critical Focus)

  • DUI Mitigation Policy: Develop and enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding alcohol consumption for all staff operating company or personal vehicles on company business. Implement mandatory "fit-for-work" checks and breathalyzer protocols for field staff departing events.

  • Night Driving Governance: Establish a strict "Journey Management Plan" for field sales teams. This includes curfew mandates, mandatory pre-trip authorization for travel after sunset, and the implementation of fatigue management protocols.

  • Driver Training & Coaching: Design and lead high-impact defensive driving courses specifically addressing the challenges of nighttime visibility, high-traffic event environments, and alcohol-related hazards.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for all fleet incidents, focusing on behavioral patterns and environmental triggers.

2. Field Sales & Event Safety

  • Event Risk Assessment: Standardize site-specific safety audits for all market activation events, ensuring safe ingress/egress, secure product storage, and monitoring of staff conduct.

  • Operational Safety Standards: Ensure field sales personnel adhere to safety standards during market visits and activations, particularly in high-density or high-risk locations.

3. Facility Safety (Head Office & Distribution)

  • Infrastructure Audit: Conduct regular inspections of offices and storage facilities to ensure compliance with local fire, electrical, and ergonomic regulations.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Maintain and test fire evacuation plans, medical response protocols, and security measures for all company facilities.

Required Competencies

  • Risk Mitigation Strategy: Proven track record in implementing "Life Saving Rules," specifically related to transportation and substance control.

  • Behavioral Safety Leadership: Ability to influence sales teams to prioritize safety over immediate sales targets. You must be comfortable having difficult, non-negotiable conversations regarding compliance.

  • Data-Driven Reporting: Ability to track safety KPIs (e.g., Near Misses, High-Risk Driving incidents, Event Safety scores) and report directly to executive leadership.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of local road transport laws and occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation.
