The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing core accounting operations, financial reporting activities, and transaction controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial discipline within the organization.

The role plays a critical function in maintaining reliable financial records, supporting financial reporting, monitoring receivables and payables, ensuring tax compliance, and strengthening internal financial controls. The position supports management by providing accurate financial information, analysis, and operational financial follow-up to support effective decision-making.

The Senior Accountant is expected to ensure high standards of accuracy, accountability, and professionalism while supporting the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.

Top Roles and Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations and Financial Record Management
• Manage and oversee daily accounting operations and financial transactions.
• Ensure proper recording, classification, and reconciliation of financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate and updated general ledger accounts and supporting records.
• Ensure completeness and reliability of accounting documentation and records.

Financial Reporting and Closing Activities
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Support timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial reports in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting reports for management review.

Receivable and Payable Management
• Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collection follow-up.
• Manage accounts payable processes and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
• Reconcile customer and supplier balances regularly.
• Monitor aging reports and support working capital management initiatives.

Bank, Cash, and Reconciliation Management
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash transactions.
• Ensure proper control and recording of cash receipts and payments.
• Verify accuracy of bank balances and transaction records.

Taxation and Statutory Compliance
• Prepare and process tax declarations, filings, and statutory reports.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain proper tax documentation and support tax audits when required.

Budget Monitoring and Expense Control
• Monitor operational expenses against approved budgets.
• Verify financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and authorization compliance.
• Support cost control and financial discipline initiatives.

Inventory and Asset Accounting Support
• Support inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, and asset tracking processes.
• Verify inventory movements and financial records related to stock transactions.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment of fixed assets and depreciation records.

Internal Control and Financial Governance
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Support strengthening of internal control systems and financial discipline.

Audit Coordination and Documentation Management
• Support internal and external audit activities by preparing required reports and documentation.
• Ensure audit readiness and timely resolution of audit findings.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting files and records.

Financial Analysis and Management Support
• Provide financial analysis and transaction summaries to management.
• Support decision-making through accurate financial data and reporting.
• Identify financial issues, irregularities, and operational gaps requiring attention.

Cross-Functional Coordination
• Coordinate with operational departments regarding financial transactions and documentation.
• Support smooth financial communication and information flow across departments.

Leadership and Team Support
• Support and guide junior accountants and finance staff where required.
• Promote professionalism, accountability, and accuracy within the finance team.

Performs other related duties as directed

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional certification or ongoing certification training is an added advantage

Experience:

• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance operations
• Strong experience in financial reporting, taxation, receivable/payable management, and reconciliations
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, real estate, or multi-business environments is highly desirable
• Experience working with accounting software and ERP systems is preferred
