Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our fiscal reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing complex reconciliations, and ensuring strict compliance with the Ethiopian Labour Proclamation No. 1156/2019 and relevant tax regulations. This role requires a professional who can bridge the gap between day-to-day bookkeeping and high-level financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Tax Compliance: Ensure timely declaration and payment of VAT, TOT, Withholding Tax, and Pension contributions.

• Treasury & Cash Management:

  • Monitor daily cash balances and optimize liquidity to meet operational requirements.

  • Oversee bank relationship management, including the opening of LCs (Letters of Credit) and monitoring foreign exchange transactions.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

  • Manage debt facilities, interest payments, and investment of surplus funds.

• Audit Coordination: Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and conduct variance analysis to monitor departmental spending.

• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and streamline accounting workflows for greater efficiency.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.

• Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including specific experience in treasury management or corporate finance.

• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Excel.

• Legal Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Ethiopian tax laws, banking regulations, and commercial codes.

• Soft Skills: Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a high degree of professional integrity.
