Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in import and export operations and will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting the company’s international trade activities.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or with related field of study

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience

• Proven experience in import & export, local trade, and international service accounting is mandatory.

• Experience handling foreign currency transactions and exchange rate impacts

• Experience with ERP systems is an added advantage

• Experience in trading or import/export companies

Location: Addis Ababa

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations

• Handle accounting for import, export, trading transactions

• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations

• Manage accounts payable and receivable

• Support audits and liaise with external auditors

• Analyze financial data and provide insights for business decisions

• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of trade finance (LCs, foreign payments, bank documentation)

• Knowledge of customs duties, port charges, and related cost structures

• Proficiency in accounting software

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• High level of integrity and attention to detail;  Excellent communication skills

• Familiarity with ERP systems

• Knowledge of local tax and customs regulations
