Job Summary

Mers Consulting and Construction PLC is looking for a capable, experienced, and highly professional Senior Construction Manager to lead and strengthen our construction operations across projects and sites.

In this role, you will provide senior leadership and oversight of construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, and contractual requirements. You will lead and coordinate engineering and project teams, oversee project performance, resolve construction challenges, manage resources, and work closely with management, clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or with related field of study

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of relevant construction experience, with significant experience in a senior construction or project management position.

  • Proven experience managing multiple construction projects, teams, and sites simultaneously.

  • Experience in tendering, contractor and subcontractor management, procurement coordination, and project cost control.

  • Experience in consulting, engineering, or project-based construction organizations is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee construction activities across all projects and sites.

  • Supervise and guide engineering and project coordination teams, ensuring clear responsibilities, performance standards, and deliverables.

  • Monitor project progress, costs, quality, and resource requirements and take timely corrective action where necessary.

  • Coordinate with design, procurement, finance, contracts, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor construction quality, safety, progress, and compliance.

  • Ensure projects comply with approved designs, specifications, contractual requirements, applicable regulations, and company standards.

  • Lead construction planning, resource allocation, team assignments, and resolution of technical and operational challenges.

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Oversee project budgets, cost control, variations, and change orders while identifying opportunities for efficient resource utilization.

  • Participate in tender preparation, technical evaluation, and selection of suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate construction procurement requirements and ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and resources.

  • Identify and manage technical, operational, logistical, contractual, and project risks.

  • Review construction-related documents, reports, approvals, permits, and project records to ensure completeness and compliance.

  • Support the management of contractual issues, claims, disputes, and variations in coordination with the contracts team.

  • Mentor and develop engineering and project coordination teams and promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide regular management reports on project progress, performance, risks, resource requirements, quality, safety, and financial matters.

  • Oversee project close-out, handover documentation, as-built records, and lessons learned.

  • Identify opportunities to improve construction methods, technologies, processes, and overall project efficiency.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to management regarding construction operations, resources, business opportunities, and organizational development.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, project planning, quality control, health and safety, cost control, and construction management.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering and construction teams and coordinate multidisciplinary project activities.

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, variations, claims, and project documentation.

  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex construction challenges effectively.
