Moude is currently working toward establishing its own licensed customs brokerage operation to serve: Moude’s own import and export activities, importers and exporters, manufacturers and producers, distributors and wholesalers, Ethiopian and international companies, NGOs and international organizations, non-profit and for-profit institutions, other eligible import-export customers
We are seeking 2 exceptional, experienced and officially certified Ethiopian Customs Declarants / Customs Clearance Specialists who want to build a long-term career and play an important role in developing MOUDE’s Customs Brokerage operation.
This is not simply a data-entry/declaration position. We are looking for professionals capable of taking responsibility for a customs file from initial document review through successful and compliant cargo release.
We especially want problem solvers. The successful candidates must be capable of handling difficult and complex situations professionally. When a problem occurs, we expect the professional to be able to determine: what exactly is the problem? why did it happen? what are the lawful solutions available? what is the best solution? how quickly can it be resolved? how can Moude prevent the same problem from happening again? We want professionals who take ownership of their files and remain accountable until the assignment is properly completed. Leadership potential is highly valued.

Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in related field of study
Valid/relevant Ethiopian Customs Declarant certification/qualification
Successfully completed the applicable customs training/course and examination requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
Experience and professional working relationships with customs operations, freight forwarders, airlines/cargo handlers, dry ports, transport operators, warehouses, importers, exporters, manufacturers and other relevant institutions are an advantage.
Strong hands-on experience in Ethiopian customs clearance
Practical experience with Ethiopian customs electronic declaration/clearance systems
Strong practical experience involving Modjo Dry Port, Djibouti–Ethiopia corridor, air freight clearance, sea freight/container clearance, local and cross-border road freight, freight forwarding, agricultural and perishable exports, FMCG/food imports, machinery/manufacturing inputs, import-export documentation, institutional/NGO shipments, complex or delayed customs-clearance cases will be a major advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and submit accurate customs declarations and clearance documents.
Coordinate with customs authorities, clients, freight forwarders, and transporters.
Follow up on inspections, assessments, payments, and shipment releases.
Process declarations through Ethiopian electronic customs systems.
Identify and resolve documentation and compliance issues before submission.
Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent knowledge of Ethiopian import and export customs procedures
Strong knowledge of HS classification, customs valuation, duties, taxes and declaration procedures
Strong ability to review invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, transport documents, permits and other import/export documentation
Ability to independently prepare, review and manage customs declarations
Ability to identify documentation or compliance problems BEFORE submission
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to minimum/zero preventable errors
Excellent professional integrity and confidentiality
Language:
Excellent Amharic proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) and strong professional English proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) is mandatory.
Fluency in at least one additional Ethiopian/local language such as: Afaan Oromo, Somali, Tigrinya, Afar and other relevant Ethiopian languages is an advantage
Two or more additional languages are an even stronger advantage.
