New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The organization was previously registered at the Ministry of Justice under registration number 3018 and later registered and licensed by the Federal Charities and Societies Agency as an Ethiopian resident’s charity by the Charities and Societal Proclamation No. 621/2009 by registration No. 0539. NMWEO has been re-registered according to the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No.113/2019 with registration No. 0539.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Management and Reporting (Oversight)
High-Level Reporting: Prepare and finalize comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including detailed analysis and commentary on performance against budget.
Consolidation: Manage the consolidation of accounts for multiple projects or business units, where applicable.
Review & Oversight: Review and approve the work of junior finance staff (e.g., Accounts Payable/Receivable postings, journal entries, bank reconciliations) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Tax Management: Oversee and ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory returns, including VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes, seeking expert advice when necessary.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Analysis
Budget Leadership: Lead the process of preparing and coordinating the annual operating and capital budgets across different departments.
Forecasting: Develop detailed financial forecasts (e.g., 6-month or 12-month projections) and scenario analysis to assess financial risks and opportunities.
Variance Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance variances, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions to management.
Cost Control: Proactively identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements within operational expenditures.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance
Policy Implementation: Ensure adherence to and actively champion the organization's financial policies and procedures among all staff.
Internal Controls: Monitor and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the reliability of financial data.
Audit Management: Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, and manage the follow-up on audit findings and recommendations.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, including currency fluctuations, fraud, and credit risk.
4. Leadership and Mentorship
Staff Guidance: Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior finance staff on best accounting practices and policy compliance.
Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.
Cross Departmental Support: Work closely with department heads to provide financial insights and support their operational planning.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
8 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 4 years specifically working for an international or local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
Advanced knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP) and extensive experience with enterprise-level accounting software.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
