Position Summary
The primary purpose of the job is to make financial risk analysis and enhance proactive financial risk management by conducting appropriate financial risk related research and developing financial risk policies and procedures.
The job holder is responsible for making financial risk analysis and enhance proactive financial risk management by conducting appropriate financial risk related researches & developing financial risk policies and procedures; identify significant changes in the overall quality of the loan portfolio, the adequacy of, and adherence to, internal policies and procedures, the quality of underwriting and risk identification, compliance with laws and regulations; and recommends appropriate risk mitigation measures.
2. Key Responsibilities
Identify, analysis and measure potential financial risks of the Bank;
Prepare financial risk exposures (Liquidity risk, market risk, credit & portfolio risk and financing risks) monitoring/assessment, loan review and ad-hoc reports;
Review relevant research output on the bank’s process, product and services from financial risk angle;
Develop and/or upgrading the bank’s financial risk identification and assessment methodologies;
Monitor, analyze and provide suggestions for the mitigation of financial risks;
Analyze regulatory developments and banking industry changes and their impact on the bank’s level of financial risk exposure in stressed situations;
Promptly identify loans with actual and potential credit weaknesses so that timely action can be taken to strengthen credit quality and minimize losses;
Identify relevant trends that affect the quality of the loan portfolio and highlights segments of the loan portfolio that are potential problem areas;
Assesses the adequacy of and adherence to internal credit policies and loan administration procedures and monitors compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
Participate in evaluating the activities of lending personnel, including their compliance with lending policies and the quality of their loan approval, monitoring, and risk assessment;
Participate in conducting stress testing to determine the bank’s degree of sensitivity to shocks arising out of financial risk perpetrating events;
Participate in developing financial risk limits of the bank monitor compliance with the established financial risk appetite;
Participate in developing and reviewing financial risk management policies and procedures;
Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
3. Qualification, Previous Work Experience and Required Competencies
3.1 Qualification Requirements
Master’s or Bachelor Degree in Economics, Management, Accounting and Finance, Business Management and other related field of study.
3.2 Required Work Experience
At least six (6) years of professional experience, preferably in the banking or financial services sector, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant banking experience in any of the following areas: risk management, loan review, credit management, strategy, research, finance, treasury, compliance or branch operations.
3.3 Required Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial risk types (credit, market, liquidity, and portfolio risk) and risk assessment frameworks
Ability to analyze loan portfolios, identify potential problem areas, and recommend timely corrective actions
Proficiency in developing and reviewing risk management policies, procedures, and risk limits
Experience conducting stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate the bank’s sensitivity to financial shocks
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and their impact on financial risk exposure
Competence in preparing clear, insightful risk reports and presenting findings to management
Attention to detail and ability to identify early warning signals of credit deterioration
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and core banking systems
Integrity, professionalism, and ability to work independently under pressure
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various departments
Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on banking industry trends
