SENIOR MEDICAL GAS & CRITICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
Specialization: Oxygen Plants, OR Systems & HVAC | Installation, Test & Commissioning

Core Expertise

A master technician ensuring the integrity of integrated life-support and critical environment systems. Expert in medical gas pipelines, OR pendants, and the specialized HVAC controls that maintain sterile, pressurized, and temperature-controlled surgical environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Medical Gas Systems (Oxygen Plant to OR Outlet)

• Installs & integrates PSA/VSA oxygen plants, manifolds, and medical air compressors.

• Signature Skill: Medical Copper Brazing using oxygen-free nitrogen purge and Ag-Cu-P alloy for contaminant-free welds.

• Installs OR endpoints (pendants, columns, ZVSUs) and performs gas identity, purity, and pressure testing.

• 2. HVAC for Critical Clinical Environments

• OR-Specific HVAC: Installs and balances systems to meet strict air change rates , pressurization (positive pressure), and humidity/temperature control per ASHRAE guidelines.

• Filtration: Ensures proper installation of HEPA filtration systems for sterile zones.

• Control Integration: Verifies integration of HVAC controls with monitoring and alarm generation.

• Commissioning: Performs room pressurization tests (smoke tube or digital manometer) and particulate air testing to verify cleanliness classifications (for ORs).

3. Testing & Integrated Commissioning

• Dual System Verification: Ensures no interference between gas piping and HVAC ductwork/routing.

• Alarm System Integration: Tests medical gas alarms (low pressure, plant failure) and HVAC alarms (loss of pressure, filter issues) on central nurse call.

• Performance Validation: Conducts final system balancing, verifying that HVAC airflow, room pressurization, and medical gas performance meet design specifications simultaneously under load.

4. Compliance & Handover

• Compiles integrated Verification for both medical gas and HVAC systems.

• Provides combined training to clinical staff on gas outlet use, emergency isolation, and understanding of environment controls (pressurization, alarms)
