The Project
The SRVC II project is a comprehensive agricultural value chain development (VCD) project, working along selected agricultural value chains in the horticulture and oilseeds sub-sectors. The project aims to strengthen private sector development, supply chain management and post-harvest management. It works with various public and private partners, including agricultural input and service providers, agricultural producers and processors as well as business associations to foster public-private collaboration and public private dialog (PPD). In addition to and beyond selected value chains, the project aims to support federal partners with agricultural policy development and inter-sectoral coordination for Ethiopia’s agricultural sector to fulfil its potential to provide food security, employment and supply high quality food to local and international markets.
sequa has received the mandate from GIZ SRVC II to implement projects along the horticulture and oilseed agriculture value chains. The project aims to support SMEs and farmer organizations in achieving business growth and stronger market integration by improving service delivery of relevant business membership organization’s (BMOs), and strengthening the capacity of targeted SMEs along the value chains in Ethiopia
Scope of the Assignment
The objective of this assignment is to provide technical capacity building and business development support to selected private sector actors under the iDPP framework, especially in but not limited to the Tigray region. The intervention focuses on strengthening agricultural mechanization, post-harvest management, climate-smart practices, and value addition through targeted market systems development approaches. Key support areas include technical capacity building, access to finance, business linkage facilitation, quality improvement, digital supply chain and traceability solutions, and other tailored business development services aimed at enhancing competitiveness and market integration.
Job Requirements
Education:
Master’s Degree in Agribusiness, Business Development, Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or with related field of study
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in value chain development, SME support, market systems development, and agribusiness advisory services.
Proven experience working in the Tigray region with strong understanding of the local socio-economic and business environment.
Demonstrated expertise in training facilitation, business linkage creation, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development.
Proven experience working on GIZ-funded or other donor-funded private sector development projects.
Strong background in SME coaching, mentoring, and technical advisory services.
Demonstrated expertise in agribusiness development, value chain support, and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide business development and technical support to SMEs under the integrated Development for Public-Private Partnership (iDPP) framework.
Facilitate market linkages and partnerships between machine manufacturers, cooperative unions, farmers, and SMEs through stakeholder mapping and client identification.
Develop training materials and deliver workshops, B2B networking events, and capacity-building programs in entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and supply chain management.
Support implementation of quality management, occupational safety, compliance systems, and digital traceability solutions.
Monitor project implementation, promote products and services through outreach campaigns, and prepare regular technical reports.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of quality assurance systems, digital traceability solutions, agribusiness development, and technical report writing.
