Brothers of Good Works Women Empowerment Center (BGW-WEC) is a faith-based organization that works with women in socio-economically vulnerable situations, particularly those from the poorest and most marginalized groups. These include women stigmatized and excluded due to their HIV status, occupational circumstances (such as commercial sex workers and returnees of migration), children and youth with disabilities (CYWDs) and their mothers, orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) and their caregivers, as well as the wider community. The Center aims to enable these groups to assume responsibility for their socio-economic independence including improvements in health and household livelihoods while also fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Social Worker-Coordinator 

General Description of the Position  

The Social Work Coordinator is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of interventions that support vulnerable women in achieving sustainable socio-economic independence. The Social Work Coordinator ensures that program activities are responsive to the needs of beneficiaries, aligning support services such as skills development, income-generating initiatives, and social support mechanisms with the broader empowerment strategy of the organization.

Working in close collaboration with all staff members of BGW-WEC, the Coordinator facilitates an integrated service delivery. This includes coordinating with program teams, monitoring client progress, and facilitating / creating linkages with relevant stakeholders to enhance opportunities for economic inclusion. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, contributing to program planning, monitoring and evaluation. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordination of program/unit activities:

  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of the economic empowerment unit, including assignment of junior social worker and IGA-supervisors.

  • Co-responsible and works in coordination with all the staff of the WEC departments/units in areas such as developing and evaluating empowerment plans, assessment for admission of clients, discharge, group meetings, market assessment and purchasing of IGA materials for clients, etc. 

  • Is responsible for the quality of the activities carried out by the unit;

  • Makes arrangements to meet stakeholders in line with the department’s/unit’s activity as required;

Program of Economic empowerment unit.

  • Organizes and coordinates orenataion sessions , business skill training and development of business plans including market assessment;

  • Facilitates purchasing request of IGA materials along with the logistics officer;

  • Coordinates supervision of IGA-beneficiaries and conducts supervision visits for directing IGA supervisors as required;

  • Organizes opportunities for clients to sell goods;

  • Organizes business groups;

  • Establishes SHGs and works with the groups in line with the guidelines for this purpose;

  • Conducts needs assessment surveys in order to identify the needs;

Monitoring and evaluation; and Reporting  

  • Prepares detail action plan for the unit and works to achieve the plan;

  • Is responsible for proper filing system and proper record keeping of activities. 

  • Collects data and compiles and helps to prepare reports for relevant agencies, including government and donors. 

  • Monitors and evaluates activities of the economic empowerment unit;

  • Participates in monitoring and evaluation activities of the center as a whole.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education 

  • Degree of Bachelor of cfrom recognized college or university.

  • Training on entrepreneurship and business skills

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in similar setting. 

Skills

  • Organizational skills: Organizing the day-to-day activities. 

Social Skills: 

  • Strong communicating skills in addressing clients, stakeholders and colleagues 

  • Strong training and monitoring skills

Personal skills:

  • Integrity, reliability, perseverance, persuasiveness and good sense of humor. 

Salary: As per organization salary scale
