About the Role
The Sr. Analyst, Business and Product Development leads initiatives in issuer development, investor relations and market capacity building, product development and innovation, and the coordination of strategic market development programs. Reporting to the Chief Business Development Officer, the role works closely with internal teams, regulators, market participants, development partners, and other stakeholders to expand market participation, develop innovative capital market products, and deliver initiatives that advance ESX's strategic objectives. The position requires a highly organized and collaborative professional with strong program management, stakeholder engagement, analytical skills, and a passion for contributing to the growth of Ethiopia's Capital market ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Issuer Development & Relationship Management (30%)
Develop and execute comprehensive issuer engagement strategies to attract companies, corporate entities and government agencies to list on ESX.
Identify, engage and build relationships with prospective issuers across public and private sectors; maintain active listing pipeline.
Conduct market research to identify sectors and companies suitable for capital markets financing.
Support companies throughout the listing journey, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders (investment banks, advisors, legal firms, auditors).
Organize issuer awareness sessions, workshops and roadshows; prepare issuer presentations and investment case materials.
Monitor issuer engagement activities and prepare regular pipeline and progress reports.
Build and maintain strong relationships with market players investment banks, transaction advisors, legal firms, auditors, and other listing ecosystem participants.
Investor & Market Capacity Building (30%)
Design and implement integrated investor education and awareness programs to build participation across retail and institutional segments.
Organize seminars, webinars, conferences, and investment forums in collaboration with regulators, financial institutions, universities, and development partners.
Develop educational materials that improve investor awareness and financial literacy.
Identify and engage institutional investors; foster retail investor participation through targeted strategies.
Maintain relationships with domestic and international investors and stakeholders; gather market feedback and recommend improvements to investor experience.
Support communication strategies that promote ESX products and enhance market confidence.

Product Development & Market Innovation (40%)
Lead design, development and deployment of strategic capital market products—equities, fixed income instruments, money market products and innovative solutions.
Conduct market research to identify product opportunities and emerging trends; monitor local and international markets for innovations suited to Ethiopia.
Coordinate cross-functional product development initiatives across technology, operations, legal, risk, compliance and market participants.
Engage with development partners and regulators on product strategy and implementation.
Prepare business cases, feasibility assessments and product concept papers; coordinate pilot projects and product launches.
Measure product performance through KPIs; track adoption and market impact; recommend continuous improvements.
Contribute to policy discussions and market development initiatives that support ecosystem growth.
Relationships
Internal: Business Development, Operations team, Legal, Risk and Compliance
External: Potential and existing issuers, institutional investors, retail investor groups and associations, capital markets service providers, regulatory authorities, academic and training institutions, international professional bodies, development finance partners
Job Requirements
Education
Master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, law or related field (or bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience).
Professional certifications such as CISI, CFA, ACCA, PMP, PRINCE2, or Product Management certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
Experience in program management, business development, market development or consulting roles, preferably within financial services, capital markets or development finance.
Experience in capital markets, financial services, banking, investment, corporate finance, business development, consulting, regulatory or academic institutions, or similar sectors.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing cross-functional initiatives.
Experience coordinating projects or programs is highly desirable.
