The Strategic Planning Director – Portfolio will play a pivotal role in leading the formulation, execution, and monitoring of the corporate strategy across East African Holding and its group of portfolio companies. This role is responsible for ensuring alignment between the Group’s strategic vision and the operational activities of subsidiaries through robust strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and performance management frameworks.
Collaborate closely with the Group Board and Executive Leadership Team to develop and embed an ambitious, forward-looking, and innovative corporate strategy.
Lead the formulation and roll-out of a comprehensive group-level strategy that reflects the mission, vision, and values of East African Holding and its subsidiaries.
Ensure the application of cutting-edge strategic development approaches that position EAH as a regional leader in systems thinking and organizational transformation.
Manage end-to-end strategic planning processes, including reviews, scenario planning, impact analysis, and progress reporting across the portfolio.
Facilitate organizational readiness assessments to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improved performance and resilience.
Design, develop, and oversee interactive data dashboards and strategic performance reporting systems to support real-time decision-making and organizational learning.
Work collaboratively with senior leaders to establish enabling platforms, tools, systems, and cross-functional processes for effective strategy delivery.
Provide executive-level reporting with actionable insights derived from research, data analytics, and market intelligence.
Drive the execution of the corporate strategy by leading the design and implementation of execution plans aligned to long-term strategic objectives.
Monitor the performance and impact of strategic initiatives and provide regular updates and advisory inputs to leadership and stakeholders.
Lead periodic strategy reviews to ensure timely adaptation and refinement of strategic priorities and implementation roadmaps.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of strategic initiatives and enterprise-level impact.
Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders, government agencies, development partners, and other external entities to support business growth and transformation.
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Economics, Business Management, Strategic Management, or a closely related field.
At least 10 years of progressive senior-level experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, and performance management within large private or public enterprises.
Demonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of cross-organizational strategic initiatives and KPI frameworks.
International certification in strategy, project management, or organizational development (e.g., PMP, Balanced Scorecard, OKR, or similar) is an added advantage.
Advanced knowledge of corporate strategy, change management, and performance management principles.
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing enterprise-level monitoring and evaluation systems.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and market research capabilities.
Proven ability to formulate and execute high-impact business strategies in complex environments.
Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive levels.
Strong leadership and project management experience with a focus on measurable outcomes.
High proficiency in strategic planning tools, dashboard developlapment, and performance reporting systems.
Superior communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead multidisciplinary teams across diverse business units.
