CHADET Ethiopia is a non-profit national development organization registered in Ethiopia that works for the protection and welfare of children found under difficult circumstances. CHADET would like to hire competent staff for Teacher facilitator position in a project that is being designed to provide non-formal education for selected street childrenin Addis Ababa city. The positions and key tasks that are expected of the candidate are outlined as follows:

Job Title:Teacher Facilitator

Reports to: The project coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

Subject to the general guidelines of the organization and directives from the project coordinator,the teacher facilitator shall be responsible for teaching numeracy and literacy skills for children living and working on the street based on the guidance to be given by the project. The facilitatorwill have the following duties and responsibilities: -

  • Prepare weekly lesson planthat is expected to be executed at the level of theinformal center.

  • Deliver the actual numeracy and literacy skill sessions

  • Follow up and measure students’ performance periodically.

  • Record students’ performance resultsand reports on the level accomplishments to the project coordinator.

  • Work in collaboration with counsellors, Social workers, caregivers, communities, and other stakeholders to fulfil their obligation in taking care of the children at the school and within communities.

  • Carry out other similar activities as assigned by the program team.

Salary:  As per the organization’s scale

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience: 

  • A minimum of BED/BA degree in education with a minimum of three years of experience in teaching, who is certified with teaching and learning facilitation skills, certified with peer teaching training course, and/or trained in developing curriculum/teaching guidelines for non-formal education 

Competencies:

  • This position requires a motivated and innovative person with strong teaching skills and an ability to work independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to lead, but should be able to understandthe situation and character of street-connectedchildren.

  • Strong ability to communicate in written and spoken English and Amharic.

  • Ability and willingness to respect CHADET’s values and safeguarding policy in every aspect of his/her work

  • Fluency in more than one Ethiopian language is highly desirable
