Job Summary: 

The truck driver will play a key role in distributing the company's products (Feed and Raw materials) promptly to our Breeder Farms and Depots. Represent the company as a brand ambassador by embracing and demonstrating our values and culture at the highest level. This requires being professional and cost- effective to increase the company’s profitability and delivery satisfaction.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• On Time Delivery %- The truck driver will pick up and drop off the company products (Feed and Raw material) while adhering to assigned routes and time schedules.

• Missing bags- The truck driver is expected to count and receive the feed at the feed mill and unload at breeder farms and Depots with the full quantity. There should be zero missing bags.

• Product damage- The driver is expected to minimize any damage to the product, including water leakage in transportation, by following strict delivery procedures

• Trip frequency – Ensure the vehicle is operational as needed, and must do at least 2 trips per week. This may exceed, depending on the distance history of destinations.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  Execution and Communication

• The driver shall be available whenever the vehicle is not out of town (this includes 48 hours a week), and the truck shall always be parked in the company’s compound except for delivery days.

• Loading, transporting, and delivering products to feed mills, breeder farms, and depots in a safe, timely manner

• Drive safely and comply with the Feed handling and transportation procedures

• Return signed documents

• Care for and operate the vehicle as per the rules and regulations of the Ethiopian government.

• Communicate with the site managers before leaving the Feed mill and upon arrival

• Notify the Mechanic and Logistics Manager of any breakage on the vehicle

  Vehicle Management

• Regularly inspect vehicle health and complete logs and reports after every trip completion

• Follow up the regular oil, tires and spare parts to minimize the event of breakdown with the assistant of the mechanic.

• Schedules and manages trucks’ routine maintenance in liaison with garages.

• Inspects the quality of maintenance performed at the time of receiving the vehicle from the maintenance service provider.

• Abide all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.

• Maintain operational excellence in vehicles and loading/unloading areas (cleanliness, speed, and accuracy).

  Delivery Satisfaction

• Ensure delivery satisfaction to all breeder farms and Depots

• Ensure Feed is delivered to breeder farms and depots with no missing quantity and transport damage.

• Make sure all breeder farms and depot staff count, receive, and sign when receiving products

• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

 

Qualification

• Valid Dry-3 driving license

• Diploma in auto mechanics (preferably)

• Good in spoken, reading and writing in English

• Excellent in reading, spoken and writing in Amharic

• Related industry or manufacturing work experience (Preferably FMCG)

  Experience:

  • Two years and above driving experience.

  Competences

  • Must be able to work under pressure, arrive on time, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Has a good personality and good communication with the customers.
