KAKI PLC is an official dealer and assembler of ISUZU in Ethiopia. It is also engaged in different business lines including import, export, metal fabrication, after sales services, and cargo freight transport operations. The company wishes to employ a qualified professional for the Vehicle Assembling & Metal Fabrication Business Unit Manager position:

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, direct, and control the overall operation of the Business Unit; ensure efficiency and effectiveness by leading operational functions of production, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, supply chain, finance, and Human resource; and assume full responsibility for business continuity and profitability, while ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external policy and guidelines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the company top management to determine values, vision and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals and objectives for the Business Unit (BU).

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, control, evaluate and monitor the entire operation of the BU to ensure business continuity and profitability.

• Devise strategies to improve reputation of the vehicle assembly & metal fabrication business Unit.

• Prepare budget, allocate resources for departments and work units to achieve goals and objectives.

• Establish objectives and KPIs for the business unit; and review and measure performance based on those objectives and KPIs.

• Ensure that company policies, and procedures are well communicated and implemented at all departments and work units.

• Ensure efficient and effective utilization of financial, physical and human resources.

• Provide strategic leadership, which involves strategic decision making, develop and ensure implementation of operational plan for the BU.

• Direct and coordinate departments to ensure that they perform their respective duties and responsibilities and meet productivity targets by maintaining company and industry efficiency standards.

• Analyze process workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout; and compare it with industry standards to decide on necessary changes that enhance the operational procedures, systems, methods etc.

• Conduct regular meetings with department managers to discuss performance and efficiency issues and identify improved courses of actions.

• Ensure strong relationship of operational functions and work units to ensure collaboration and efficient execution of operations imperatives.

• Monitor all internal systems for accuracy and compliance with company rules, standards, expectations and applicable laws.

• Establish, maintain and ensure compliance with quality processes and standards to support operations team and meet customer expectations.

• Work closely and communicate effectively to interface with regulatory agencies for site audits.

• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing health and safety standards and procedures.

• Ensure effective facility management service to achieve minimum breakdown and to keep the manufacturing plant in good working condition at the lowest cost.

• Maintain positive relationship with suppliers to ensure constant flow of required raw materials.

• Monitor availability of required quantity of raw materials and other resources at the warehouse to ensure operational continuity.

• Oversee monthly financial statements are prepared and submitted to company finance department for further analysis on operational efficiency and profitability.

• Oversee the overall of Human Resources development and management tasks are performed as per the company policy and laws of the company.

• Prepare and submit periodic performance reports for submission to the Managing Director.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.

Job Requirements

Qualification                    :  BSc or MSc in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field

Work Experience            :  12 years for BSc graduate, and 10 years for MSc graduate in relevant role.

 Required Skills and Abilities:

• Highly organized, attention to detail, good interpersonal and analytical skill

• Bold, future oriented, proactive, strategic thinker.

• Computer skill, excellent written and oral communication skills, English language proficiency.

• Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Kaizen, lean manufacturing, TQM, JIT, and ERP

• Demonstrate strong skills working with the corporate team, and Departments.

• Must have “team” approach and work as a “teammate” with his/her staff.
