JOB SUMMARY
The Warehouse Officer will oversee the safe receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of all nutrition commodities, medical supplies, and equipment required for TSFP, OTP/SC support, and CMAM activities in Asayita. The role ensures proper stock management, accurate documentation, and timely delivery of RUSF, RUTF, medical consumables, and other project materials to health posts and PHCs. The Warehouse Officer will work closely with the Nutrition Officer, Logistics team, HEWs, and health facility staff to maintain strong supply chain systems that support uninterrupted service delivery for malnourished children and PLW.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain organized, clean, and secure storage of all nutrition commodities (RUSF, RUTF), medical supplies, and project equipment.
Ensure proper stacking, ventilation, and FIFO/FEFO application for all items.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with stock cards and warehouse records.
Monitor stock levels and alert the Logistics/Nutrition team of upcoming shortages or expiries.
Ensure all warehouse activities comply with donor, MoH, and Samaritan’s Purse standards.
Receive incoming supplies and verify quantities, quality, and documentation against delivery notes.
Prepare dispatch plans and issue commodities to health posts, PHCs, and TSFP sites based on approved requests.
Ensure accurate completion of Goods Received Notes (GRN), Stock Release Forms, and dispatch documentation.
Coordinate with drivers and logistics staff to ensure timely transportation of RUSF/RUTF to OTP/SC sites.
Support the movement of supplies to remote TSFP points during distribution days.
Ensure uninterrupted supply of RUSF for MAM children and PLW across 13 TSFP sites.
Facilitate the transport of RUTF to PHCs that lack capacity to move commodities to health posts.
Work closely with Nutrition Officers to align stock dispatch with TSFP schedules and caseload trends.
Support emergency replenishment for SCs and OTPs when SAM cases increase.
Maintain updated stock cards, bin cards, and warehouse ledgers for all items.
Prepare weekly and monthly stock reports for the Nutrition and Logistics teams.
Report losses, damages, expiries, or discrepancies immediately and document them according to policy.
Support audit processes and donor reporting by providing accurate warehouse data.
Ensure warehouse safety standards, including pest control, fire safety, and proper handling of food commodities.
Implement quality checks to ensure commodities are not damaged, expired, or compromised.
Enforce strict access control to the warehouse and maintain a visitor log.
Ensure all warehouse practices align with national CMAM protocols and SP logistics procedures.
Liaise with health facility staff, HEWs, and community mobilizers to understand supply needs.
Coordinate with the Logistics Officer for transport planning and procurement follow-up.
Work with Nutrition Officers to forecast commodity needs based on caseload and consumption trends.
Participate in project meetings and provide updates on stock status and supply chain challenges.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Bachelor Degree in Purchasing and Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting and/or any other related field.
3 - 4 years’ experience in inventory keeping or warehousing in logistic/transport operation.
NGO experience is a plus
LANGUAGE
Proficiency in English and Amharic
Knowledge of the regional language required
Knowledge of any other national language is a plus
