LWF World Service Ethiopia is a registered foreign charity, which has been operating in Ethiopia since 1973 implementing various development and humanitarian projects in different parts of Ethiopia. LWF World Service Ethiopia works closely with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY), the Ethiopian Government, UN organizations and other funding partners. Its thematic areas include the promotion of food security and sustainable livelihood, sustainable natural resources management, emergency preparedness, response and rehabilitation, and capacity building.

The Water/Irrigation Engineer plays a vital role in implementing Water and Irrigation schemes on the specified intervention areas which includes Preliminary assessment, design of infrastructures, supervision of constructions and work on the specifications and Bill of Quantities. He/ She also expected to maintain good coordination with the stakeholders and ensure the active participation of the targeted communities. The Water/Irrigation Engineer also demonstrates high quality and effective delivery of Water/Irrigation activities through standard working procedures & monitoring tools. In addition, He/She will engage on Capacity Building activities-develops training manuals, strengthens the capacity of stakeholders and the targeted communities and contributes to the design of high-quality proposals that support the growth and sustainability of new projects.
Prepare/revise design drawings, Bill of Quantities and specifications for small scale irrigation and other Water infrastructures under the project.
Maintain Regular Construction Supervision of Small Scale Irrigation and other Water/Irrigation infrastructures under the project and ensure the specific scheme is constructed as per the design, specifications and agreement
Prepare and submit regular project reports(Daily,Weekly,Monthly)
Ensure the contractor timely mobilization of required manpower, materials, equipment’s and machinery for contractual works.
Apply inspection and ensure the quality and quantity of construction materials on daily basis, including field tests.
Review construction plans and design and prepare modification when deemed necessary
Take measurements, maintain accurate records and document all construction activities..
Review of the takeoff, executed BoQ presented by the Contractor
Conduct multi-sectoral or rapid need assessments assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Always ensure that the site book, drawings and BoQ is kept at site
Supervise engineering works and oversee quality standards.
Ability to Communicates and coordinate with target users, stakeholders, and government departments at the Woreda and Zonal level.
Upon assignment, represent LWF to brief visitors of the project on the overall project objectives and project outcomes.
Apply Planning projects, administering and managing budgets
Ensure timely completion of milestones and esquire approval for next work for overall timely completion of the project
Ensure all safety protocol of workers is fulfilled by the contractor.
Deal with challenges and come up with the way out.
Ready for additional assignments as ordered by supervisor
Integrate Gender, Protection, Disability inclusion into project design and implementation

Required Minimum Qualification and Experience
BSc in Water resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, OR Related Fields
Minimum of 3 years
Skills Required
Auto-cad OR Arc GIS
Additional
Proven experience on Irrigation scheme development design and supervision
Willingness to work on remote areas with tight schedules
