 Plan International Ethiopia seeks to recruit a Water Technician Assistant who will provide technical and operational support to ensure the efficient installation, maintenance, and operation of water supply systems in refugee camps and host communities in the Gambella region.

The role contributes to safe, reliable, and sustainable access to clean water and supports broader WASH objectives. It is critical in humanitarian settings where timely system functionality directly impacts public health, dignity, and protection outcomes for displaced and vulnerable populations.

 Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

About You

  • Diploma or Level III/IV (TVET 10+2, 10+3, or 10+4) in Water Supply, Water Engineering, Hydraulics, Plumbing, Electro-mechanics, Auto-electricity, Civil Engineering, or other relevant technical fields.

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in WASH, water supply, plumbing, or infrastructure works, preferably in refugee camps, humanitarian, or emergency settings.

  • Experience with water system operations, including solar-powered systems and motorized pumps, is an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of pipeline installation, water system operations, sanitation facilities, water quality monitoring techniques, and public health principles.

Languages required:

  • Fluency in English language is essential

  • In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages is a desirable
