Positive Action for Development (PAD) is an indigenous, non-governmental, humanitarian, and development organization legally registered at the federal level by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency on June 6, 2011, with registration number 2330.

PAD is one of the most vibrant and rapidly expanding civil society organizations in Ethiopia, scaling up its interventions across the humanitarian, NEXUS, and development spectrum. The organization has broadened its operations to multiple regions, including Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Harari, Afar, Somali, Tigray, Benishangul-Gumuz, and Ethiopia’s southern regional states.

As it expands, PAD remains firmly committed to inclusive, equitable, and conflict-sensitive programming—respecting the diverse realities of communities while fostering peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

The Youth Mobilization officer will work with youth leaders in the kebeles to mobilize youth, engage in community service initiatives, and build their capacities through their engagement.

Specific Responsibilities

Outreach and Engagement:

  • Develop and implement strategies to reach and engage with youth in the target communities.

  • Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about the community service, youth employment and livelihood program.

  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to mobilize and involve youth.

  • Collaborate with local youth organizations, schools, and community leaders to expand the program's reach.

  • Generate demands among youth through providing information and mobilize them to join the program.

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Develop and implement processes for recruiting eligible youth participants into the program.

  • Conduct screening and assessment of potential participants to determine their suitability for the program.

  • Provide information and guidance to interested youth regarding program eligibility, requirements, and benefits.

  • Collaborate with other program staff to ensure a smooth transition for selected participants into the program.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions on relevant topics such as employability skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and personal development.

  • Develop training materials and resources tailored to the needs of the youth participants.

  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring support to help youth participants develop their skills and overcome challenges.

  • Monitor the progress of participants during training and provide feedback for improvement.

Networking and Partnership:

  • Establish partnerships with local businesses, employers, and organizations to create employment opportunities for program participants.

  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify potential job placements, internships, or apprenticeships.

  • Participate in relevant networks, forums, or events to promote the program and build relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Advocate for the needs and interests of youth in employment-related discussions at the community level.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Collect data and maintain accurate records of participant demographics, progress, and outcomes.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of program activities in achieving desired outcomes for youth employment and livelihood.

  • Contribute to program evaluations to assess the impact and identify areas for improvement.

  • Prepare regular reports on program activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements.

Job Requirements

Qualification

 BA Degree/MA In Sociology, Social Anthropology, Social Work, Psychology, And Related Fields
Experience:     

At least 2 Years Of Experience For MA and 4 Years For BA In Mobilization Of Youth For Campaigns, Event Organizing, and Volunteerism.

Required Skills For The Vacant Positions:

  • Excellent in English Speaking, Writing, and listening, 

  • Able To Speak Amharic and additional local languages 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
